Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya on Saturday, February 5 promised to educate the late famous football fan Isaac Juma’s children.
Oparanya also pledged that he will pay all the burial expenses of the late Juma, who was hacked to death by unknown assailants on January 26.
“The County Government of Kakamega will also educate three of Juma’s 12 children who are in secondary school,” Oparanya said.
K24 Digital has established that the family of the deceased is planning to lay him to rest on Saturday, February 12 at his family home in Bunyenjere village, Mumias West in Kakamega County.
According to the family, the body of the deceased will leave Mumias morgue on Friday and be taken to Kakamega Stadium and Mumias Complex where members of the public will be allowed to view it.
His body will then be taken to his native home where they will conduct a vigil ahead of his burial on the following day.
Currently, sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have nabbed the main suspect in the murder of the football fan.
Milton Namatsi, 27, is currently being grilled by officers after investigations linked him to the murder.
The suspect was picked by sleuths and it is believed he was among a machete-wielding gang that raided Juma’s home before ending his life. The assailants turned against the deceased and cut him on the head several times.
Farida Juma, wife of the deceased said her husband was murdered due to a land feud. She said that her husband totally refused to sell part of it leading to his death.
Farida also said that the family had reported the matter to the police but little was done about it.
“Investigations are at an advanced stage and we are sure that the family will get justice,” an officer noted.
