Gloria Orwoba: Ruto is very confused

By , August 14, 2025

Former UDA Party nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has accused William Ruto of being a lying President.

Speaking to a local radio station on Thursday, August 14, 2025, Orwoba said Ruto, without blinking, misled the people of Kisii.

She expressed disappointment that promises made to the county have either been abandoned or reduced to mere political statements.

Airport promise

According to Orwoba, the President is very confused and cannot be trusted to keep his word.

“The president is very confused. It is in the State House where he said he cannot give an airport to Kisii. That was outright no. He said something like people have told him something to do with land, but it was a cover-up.

“Forget about the airport because maybe it is true,” she stated. Her comments follow months of growing frustration among Kisii residents over stalled development projects.

Orwoba insisted that the real problem was not simply the absence of an airport, but the misleading assurance that it would be delivered.

She questioned why Ruto would encourage people to believe that planes would soon be landing in Kisii if he already knew that the project would not happen.

Broader concerns over stalled projects

Beyond the airport, Orwoba challenged the President to account for other projects he promised the region.

“What happened about the cottage industries we were supposed to do in Kisii County?” she asked, stressing that such initiatives were crucial for local economic growth.

She added, “Why do I speak about Kisii? I might not know what is happening in Emby, Meru and others but, I know what is not happening in Kisii County.”

Her remarks also carried a broader message for other countries that may be facing similar unfulfilled pledges.

She emphasised that leadership is about honesty and delivery, and that misleading communities only breeds distrust.

As she concluded, Orwoba said, “What I want to say is, if indeed you knew you won’t give us an airport in Kisii, then why did you mislead us into believing we will be landing in Kisii?”

Her words have sparked fresh debate online, with many Kenyans questioning whether promises made during campaigns and early in the administration will ever be honoured.
