General Kahiriri’s message to Kenya Air Force as they mark 60th anniversary

Chief of Defence Forces Major General Charles Muriu Kahariri has hailed the Kenya Air Force (KAF) for their dedication to protecting Kenya’s skies and ensuring the nation’s safety over the past 60 years.

KAF will hold the main 60th anniversary celebrations on June 8, 2024. The build-up to the celebrations featured a 60-kilometre walk and cycling exercise as a memorable way to commemorate the Service’s six decades of service.

In a statement ahead of the celebrations, Kahariri conveyed a message of congratulations to the Air Force for their efforts.

“We commemorate a significant milestone in our nation’s history—the 60th anniversary of the Kenya Air Force. On behalf of the entire Kenya Defence Forces, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting our skies and ensuring the safety of our nation,” he stated.

Kahariri also praised the Air Force for its role in peacekeeping missions and humanitarian efforts, impacting the country and other nations.

“For six decades, the Kenya Air Force has exemplified courage, professionalism, and unwavering dedication. Your commitment to excellence has not only safeguarded our national security but has also played a vital role in peacekeeping missions and humanitarian efforts both at home and abroad. Your contributions have been a source of immense pride and inspiration to all Kenyans,” Kahiriri added.

“As we reflect on the remarkable achievements of the past 60 years, we are reminded of the bravery and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve in the Kenya Air Force. Your spirit of service and resilience in the face of challenges is a testament to the strength and integrity of our armed forces,” he pointed out.

The CDF concluded by applauding the advancements in technology and training which he believes are a promise of continued protection.

“This anniversary is not just a celebration of the past, but a beacon of the future. The advancements in technology, training, and strategic capabilities that the Kenya Air Force has embraced are a promise of continued excellence and readiness to face any challenges that lie ahead. We look forward to many more years of successful missions, innovative achievements, and the continued protection of our beloved nation.

“On this special occasion, let us honor the legacy of the Kenya Air Force and the remarkable individuals who have shaped its history. Your dedication and service are deeply appreciated, and your impact on our nation’s security and peace is immeasurable,” Kahiriri concluded.
