Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made a special appearance as celebrity couple Bahati and Diana Marua officially launched their family reality TV show ‘The Bahati Empire’ on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at a Nairobi hotel.
During his speech, Gachagua recognized the efforts made by the Bahati’s by breaking the unpenetrated borders and placing the country on the international content distribution platform Netflix through their reality show.
Adding that in the creatives are a sure way of preserving and promoting the countries tradition and culture.
“I am delighted to join artists from various genres of the industry in celebrating a milestone of one of our greatest and most inspiring artists, Kevin Kioko Bahati and his wife Diana, in the grand launch of The Bahati’s Empire Reality Show on Netflix, for this, you too have broken unpenetrated borders, placing our country on Netflix through ‘The Bahati Empire’ I salute you. I am thrilled to sit among great minds and creative minds,” he said
“In the Creative Industry, lies great potential for transforming the lives and livelihoods of our people, especially the youth, besides the rich entertainment, the Creatives are a sure way of preserving and promoting our tradition and cultural values”.
Gachagua’s advice to artists
Gachagua went further and advised artistes to grow thick skin and ignore online bullies adding that the more successful you become the more people will be envious.
“Most of you artists just like us politicians go through hell, cyberbullying I know because I follow most of you artistes here have been bullied some even get depressed please ignore the bullying in my community there is a saying a tree without fruits will never attract stones from boys,” he said.
“The higher you go the more the bullying and the more successful you become the more people will be envious and want to bring you down please ignore.”
Government vs creative industry
The Deputy President disclosed the government’s plans to promote the growth of the creative industry.
“The Ruto Administration is investing in the Sector to accelerate economic recovery and growth through an enabling ecosystem that allows for talent to thrive. Am delighted to join artists from various genres of the industry in celebrating a milestone of one of our greatest,” he said.
“With the host of great minds and thinkers who keep our Nation happy. President William Samoei Ruto and I value and have absolute confidence in the youth; they are the present and future of a prosperous Kenya,”.
