Humanitarian activist Eric Omondi has gauged William Ruto‘s performance as the president marks two years in office.
Speaking during an interview on Friday, September 13, 2024, Omondi, when asked to gauge the general performance of the Kenya Kwanza government two years down the line, said that out of 10, he would give them a two.
Additionally, he stated that the current regime has failed Kenyans and that things have been getting worse ever since Ruto officially assumed the presidency.
“In my own assessment, the government has not performed; out of 10, I would give President Ruto a two because two years down the line, things are getting worse, and I don’t think or believe it will get better,” Omondi said.
Reasons for low scorecard
The veteran comedian further said that the government has delivered more debts than any development, adding that under Ruto’s regime, the cost of living has gone up and workers from various sectors have been holding strikes.
Additionally, Omondi accused Ruto of failing to deliver the promises he made to Kenyans.
“The Kenya Kwanza government has delivered more debts than any development; they have not kept any promises that they made. The president said that the moment he puts down the bible, the cost of living will go down. Taxi drivers, doctors, teachers, students, and airport workers are on strike, and yet we have a government,” he said.
“Young people are not okay. Kenyans are depressed, watu wamefungiwa manyumba, watoto wanalala njaa, wazazi hawana school fees. The country is in disarray, which is a sign that nothing is working and also shows that the president has not delivered on his promises. He said this is the government of mama mboga, but clearly it is not.”
