Eldas MP dares Duale to arrest cartels in health scandal
By Cynthia Lodite, September 1, 2025Eldas Member of Parliament Adan Keynan has called on the Ministry of Health and Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale to firmly fix the cartel menace crippling the health sector in the country.
On his part, the legislature has added that a non-political action against fraud and cartels within the healthcare sector, particularly within the Social Health Authority (SHA), must be handled according to the law.
According to the Eldas Member of Parliament, while calling on Duale to put aside political interference when dealing with hospital cartels, he also noted that there are cartels and fraudulent activities running the hospitals.
Adan made his remarks on Monday, September 1, 2025, during an interview with a local media house.
“If, for whatever reason, there’s fraudulent activity taking place either in a non-existent facility or an existing facility that is fraudulent, it should be dealt with ruthlessly by the law enforcement agencies, and there should be no politics about that,” Aden said.
The legislature further argues that Kenyans must get a working health care system that ought to have been established in 1963, immediately when Kenya got independence.
“Kenyans must get a working health care system. That is what we ought to have had in 1963 immediately when we got independence,” Adan said.

Duale resignation push
Meanwhile, his remarks come amid growing allegations of corruption involving ghost health facilities and suspicious payouts.
At the height of the corruption allegations within SHA, a section of Members of Parliament have called out the Health CS to resign.
Meanwhile, the Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has pushed back against growing calls for his resignation over the ongoing controversy surrounding the Social Health Authority (SHA).
Speaking during a public event on Friday, August 29, 2025, he dismissed critics who have been demanding his exit, accusing them of pursuing personal interests.
Duale says many calling for his resignation are owners of some of the 133 hospitals that were suspended after being accused of defrauding the medical scheme.
In addition, the CS vowed to continue the fight against the fraudsters.
“Wale wananipinga wananiambia mimi ni jiuzulu wengine wako na hospitali yao nimefunga, mtu ananiambia Duale jiuzulu nimefunga hospitali yake tatu. Ile mahospitali elfu moja mia tatu raisi amesema tumefunga sasa mimi nimetoa kwa government printer, tumegazatte,” Duale said.
