Police officers on Monday arrested former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa after raiding his Karen home.

Detectives were forced to jump over his fence wall after Mr Echesa refused to let them in the compound.

The former CS barricaded himself in the house until his lawyer arrived.

The detectives from the Economic Crimes Unit took the former minister and to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters.

Former Sports CS Echesa speaks to a K24 TV journalist after his arrest on Monday, March 2, 2020, at his Karen home.

They also seized five high-end cars that they found in Echesa’s compound.

The five cars that were driven away from the home are: Toyota Land Cruiser V8 engine, Mercedes Benz E Class, VW Passat, Lexus saloon and Ford Ranger pickup.

Last month, Mr. Echesa was arrested and charged alongside three other over fraud-related activities over an alleged Sh39 billion fake military tender.

The ex-CS denied the charges and was released on bond.
