Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has cautioned Nairobi residents against travelling to his county, saying they risk exposing to the local population to the deadly coronavirus.

Speaking on Sunday while launching fumigation exercise at the Bungoma town bus terminal, Wangamati said those travelling to the county are putting their older relatives at risk since many of the travellers don’t know their Covid-19 status.

The governor said that county will distribute face masks to boda boda operators and other low-income groups starting Monday, April 6.

He said the fumigation exercise will go on for the next two months in all major towns in Bungoma until the country is coronavirus-free.

He called on residents to wash their hands and where possible stay at home to avoid contracting and spreading the virus.

He was accompanied by Bungoma Deputy Governor Kibani Ngome, County Health Minister Anthony Walela, Health Chief Officer Patrick Wandili among other senior officials.
