Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Justin Muturi has flagged a viral pseudo-Facebook account spreading malicious information, purporting to be his.
In a statement shared via his official X account on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Muturi described the account as fake and inauthentic urging Kenyans to ignore it.
In addition, Muturi clarified that his official Facebook account has been verified and that any communication from him will always be channelled from his verified account.
“It has come to my attention that a pseudo account is circulating false and malicious statements in my name. Let me clarify that my official Facebook account is verified, and any communication from me will always come from that platform,” Muturi stated.
The former Attorney General went on to state that he does not engage in reckless utterances exhibited by the imposter adding that such behaviours are way below his status.
He further issued a stunning warning to those attempting to tarnish his reputation by posting malicious statements on social media noting that they would not succeed in bringing him down.
“I do not engage in the kind of behaviour exhibited by this impostor account; such actions are beneath the dignity of my office. Those attempting to tarnish my reputation through these means will not succeed. I urge the public to disregard any communications from unverified sources,” he added.
Why is Muturi trending
Muturi has been trending ever since he held a press briefing on Sunday, January 12, 2025, and lamented how the Kenya Kwanza regime has failed in its handling of abductions and forced disappearances of youths, including his own son’s abduction.
Muturi said that the security forces had failed to prevent the forced disappearance after claiming that they were not involved, adding that his son was abducted six months ago, and after his release, none of his abductors have been charged.
In addition, the former attorney general noted the government’s silence on the series of abductions, adding that as a victim he has raised his voice so that the issue can be debated and put to a stop.
“My son was abducted and disappeared. I was not sure whether he was alive or dead. Despite making several requests, I was unable to trace him. Now, more than six months after the ordeal and his release by unknown individuals, he has not been charged with any offence. The security sector claims they are not involved in the abductions; interestingly, they have failed to prevent these incidents from happening publicly in broad daylight,” Muturi said.
His remarks attracted both negative and positive responses from Kenyans and political leaders with President William Ruto allies calling for his resignation.
