Kenya has recorded 515 new COVID-19 infections, pushing the country’s caseload to 29,849, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi says.

The new cases were discovered in 6,353 samples tested between Friday and Saturday, Dr. Mwangangi said while addressing journalists at Afya House in Nairobi on Saturday, August 15.

Four hundred and ninety six (496) of the 515 new cases were registered among Kenyan nationals, whereas 19 were foreigners.

The youngest new patient is aged 8 months old, whereas the oldest is aged 92 years old.

With 251 cases, Nairobi led in the number of new infections posted. Kitui (41), Kiambu (33), Kericho (23), Kisii (19), Bomet (19), Nakuru (18) and Homa Bay (16) rounded out the Top Eight most-affected counties in Kenya.

Six hundred and seventy two (672) more patients recovered from COVID-19, pushing the total number of recoveries to 15, 970.

Fifty five (55) of the recovered patients had been admitted at various hospitals across the country, whereas 607 were under home-based care.

Kenya’s death toll arising from COVID-19 reached 472 after seven more patients succumbed to the disease.

Kenya has so far tested 387, 670 samples for COVID-19.
