A court on Wednesday ordered that two minors aged 10 and 12 expelled from schools on claims of lesbianism be enrolled in separate schools.

Mpeketoni Resident Magistrate Pascal Nabwana issued the directive after the school head teacher defended his move to expel the Class Five pupils, saying they were “bad influence” to other students.

The head teacher, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the minors,  had been summoned in court to explain his decision.

This was after one the girls was arrested at a local lodging with a man and the mother revealed why she was not in school.

In a sworn affidavit, the head teacher said the school management had taken action to “save the rest of the pupils” from their bad behaviour.

“Jane (not her real name) influenced the other girl. I believe a new school would be a better option for them. They may recruit more young girls into the illegal behaviour,” he said.

In his ruling, Nabwana said it was clear the two minors needed counselling.

“I hereby order the two subject be enrolled in new separate school immediately to prevent them from suffering psychological and emotional trauma for being viewed as villains,” he said.

The magistrate further ordered the Director of Public Prosecutions to investigate and charge all persons named as having been involved in drinking sprees and sexual escapades with the minors.
