5 counties set to experience blackouts on Tuesday

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company has announced a blackout partially affecting five counties on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

In a statement on Monday, August 5, 2024, the utility company said the outage would be experienced in Nakuru, Nyahururu, Nyeri, Kiambu and Kilifi counties.

The outage, which will affect business operations and other daily power-consuming activities, is due to scheduled maintenance of power lines.

“Good Evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (6th August 2024). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” Kenya Power stated.

Counties to experience blackout

In Nakuru, the outage which will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm will affect the whole of Njoro Town, Karlo, Kenana Farm, Maili Tatu, Bamboo Farm, Hortec Farm, Chemsian Farm, Sian Roses, Kenyatta Sun Rise, Sitienei Farm, Part of Piave and adjacent customers.

In Nyahururu, the blackout will be felt in Kinamba, Olmoran, Kabel, Rumuruti, Muhotetu, Suguta, Marmar, Maralal Town and adjacent customers.

Unlike Nakuru and Nyahururu, the blackout in Nyeri will start at 8:00 am and end at 5:00 pm affecting Gathunguri TBC, Waihara, Thokoni TBC, Kihuri, Kabebero, Githimbai TBC, Karega TBC, Kiandemi, Kairuthi Health Centre, Ngunyi TBC, Iriaini Market, Gathumbi Village, Kahigaini, Iriaini Tea Factory, Thunguri Market and adjacent customers.

In Kiambu, the blackout will be felt between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm and will affect Thindigua, Kigwa Farm, Paradise Lost, Muhasibu, Kwaheri Road, Fourways Junction, Bar Next Door and adjacent customers.

During the same period, the outage in Kilifi will affect Malindi Airport, Malindi High School, Mbaraka Chembe, Takaye, Kwa Chocha and adjacent customers.
