Kenya registered its highest number of COVID-19 recoveries in a single day on Friday, April 10.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that ten people who had been quarantined at the Mbagathi isolation facility tested negative for the disease on two separate occasions, prompting their release.

The total number of recovered patients in Kenya now stand at 22.

The CS, however, revealed that out of 504 samples tested in laboratories across Kenya between Thursday and Friday, five people tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 189.

Three of the five patients hail from Mombasa, one in Nairobi and another in Nyandarua.

The age of the new patients range from 27 to 58. Two of the patients are male, whereas three are female.

Only one, who toured the United Arab Emirates recently, had a history of travelling outside the country.

The total number of closed cases now stand at 29 (seven dead, and 22 recovered). Active cases are, therefore, 160.
