According to the police, the recovery followed a report filed by a member of the public who had lost his bull on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

After receiving the report, police launched an intensive search that led them to the market where the suspects were intercepted while attempting to dispose of the animal.
“The officers successfully tracked and recovered a stolen bull at Nyadorera Market. They arrested two suspects who were found with the animal,” the NPS said in its statement.

The suspects were immediately taken into custody and are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
Members of the public thanked
The National Police Service commended members of the public for their cooperation and timely intelligence, which they said played a key role in the success of the operation.
“The Service applauds members of the public for their timely intelligence and cooperation, which led to the successful recovery of the animal and the apprehension of the suspects,” the statement read.

Police have urged residents across Busia and other border counties to remain vigilant and promptly report cases of livestock theft to nearby stations.
The latest operation is part of a broader national effort to curb rising incidents of stock theft, a crime that has long affected farmers and herders in several parts of the country.
Authorities say more joint operations will continue across the western region as the government intensifies efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in the theft and illegal trade of livestock.
