The body of a 57-year-old woman was on Thursday morning collected from a forest in Nguyo Village in Makuyu, Murang’a County three days after it was discovered dumped there.

The delay in collecting the body stemmed from a sharp disagreement between police officers in Murang’a County and Machakos County, who claimed that the scene of crime — Nguyo Forest — belonged to the other’s jurisdiction.

The woman was allegedly killed and dumped in the thicket by her 52-year-old lover.

Makuyu MCA, Stanley Mburu Muhia, termed the police officers’ quarrel as “petty and unnecessary”, given law enforcement agents took an oath to serve Kenyans from whichever region, regardless where they [police officers] are posted.

Police officers in Murang’a later collected the woman’s body and took it to General Kago Road Funeral home in Thika.

The woman’s killer is yet to be arrested.
