Wednesday power blackout set to hammer 8 counties

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power outage set for Wednesday, August 27, 2024, that will affect parts of the country.

The outage is planned for maintenance purposes, with different regions experiencing temporary power cuts throughout the day.

In a statement on its official website, Kenya Power said, “Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as follows: (Periodic interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrades of power lines, connect new customers, or replace power lines during construction, etc.).”

The temporary outage is expected to have a significant impact on various sectors and daily activities in these areas.

Kenya Power said the scheduled blackout on Wednesday will affect Nairobi, Narok, Kakamega, Homa Bay, Migori, Kitui, Kilifi and Mombasa counties

Nairobi

Area: Parts of Dandora

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Ngomongo, Dandora Dumpsite, Dandora Phase 2, 3 & 4, Co-op Bank, Uprising & adjacent customers.

Narok

Area: Kyuna Road.

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Part of Kyuna Rd, Kibagare Valley, Loresho Ridge, Loresho Crescent & adjacent customers.

Area: Rotian, Kisiriri, Tipis

Time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Motonyi, Rotian, Kisiriri, Naisoya, Enengetia, Enabelbel, Olokirkirai, Tipis, Oloropil, Topoti, Empatpat, Olchorro & adjacent customers.

Kakamega

Area: Lutaso Market

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Lutaso Mkt, Dorofu, Navakholo, Budonga Mkt, Mukhweso Junction, Lwakhuba Mkt, Lwakhuba Village & adjacent customers.

Homa Bay

Area: Woibero, Ojunge

Time: 9:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Wiobiero Sch, Ojunge Dispensary, Rodi Mkt, Marindi Mkt, Marram Mkt, Aluor, Kuja & adjacent customers.

Migori

Area: Sori, Otati

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Parts of Sori, God Gachawi, Sidika, Rondo Kosieme, Otati Centre, Change, Kogole Water Pump, Aoroiuope & adiacent customers.

Kitui

Area: Kwa Kyenza, Kwa Mumo, Mutulu

Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Places affected: Kwa Kyenza Mkt, Kwa Mona Mkt, Kunikila, Kwa Donga, Soweto, Matinyani, Kyaani, Kauma, Kavumbuni, Kyeni, Kavalo, Vui, Maseki, Pelena, Syongila, Mutendea, Unyaa, Mazeras, Katyethoka, Grits, Good Shepherd & adjacent customers.

Kilifi

Area: Matsangoni
