Babu Owino to finally reveal full account of DJ Evolve incident
By Valerian Khakayi, July 31, 2025Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili, widely known as Babu Owino, has pledged to publicly recount the full timeline of the January 17, 2020, shooting involving Felix Orinda, aka DJ Evolve, now that legal proceedings have concluded and no restrictions prevent him from speaking.
Speaking during a candid interview with K24 TV on Thursday, July 31, 2025, Babu said that he had taken responsibility for his weakness, had not run away, and had apologised.
In addition, the youthful legislator added that he would speak about it when the right time came.
“I took responsibility for my weakness, I did not run away, and I apologised. I will talk about it when the right time comes,” Babu Owino said.
Additionally, Babu said that he was who he was because of the weaknesses he had had in the past, adding that he was not a perfect person but strove to progress rather than to be perfect, and that if people liked him, they should like him with all his weaknesses.
“I am who I am today because of the weakness I have had in the past am not a perfect person but I strive to progress, not to be perfect. If you like me like me with all my weaknesses, if you hate me,” he added.
Babu on the incident
In a previous interview with Kameme FM on July 29, 2025, he said that he would come forward specifically before announcing his candidacy to explain, step by step, what had happened with DJ Evolve.
He explained that he had not been allowed to speak before because the case was in court, but now that it was over, he wanted to tell the full story.
“I will come specifically before I announce my candidacy and explain, step by step, what happened with DJ Evolve. I wasn’t allowed to speak before because the case was in court. Now that it’s over, I want to tell the full story,” Owino said.
Additionally, the MP said that he would explain the matter thoroughly and calmly, clarified that there had been no ill intention and that he had never meant harm to his brother, and described the incident as an accident
“I will explain it thoroughly and calmly. There was no ill intention; I never meant harm to my brother. It was an accident,” he stated
