Babu Owino goes to the village to reflect after Raila’s burial

Babu Owino, on Monday, October 20, 2025, stated that he is taking some quiet time to reflect on his life and the lives of his people.
“Having a me time in the Village, Got Matar to reflect on my life and the lives of my People,” Babu wrote, signalling a moment of calm and self-reflection away from the public spotlight.
The MP has been active in the national mourning activities for Raila Odinga, where he has frequently addressed gatherings and shown strong support for the late leader’s legacy.

Babu Owino raises security concerns before Raila’s burial
Just days before his quiet retreat, Babu had raised concerns about his safety, claiming that there were plans to attack him ahead of Raila Odinga’s burial.
“There are plans to attack me on or before the day of Baba’s burial. I am aware of the culprits behind the scheme. It is my prayer that we give Baba the befitting send-off that he deserves, devoid of unwarranted violence,” he said on October 17, 2025.

His statement came amid heightened tension and large crowds that had gathered to mourn the late opposition leader. On Thursday, October 16, 2025, there was drama at the Parliament Buildings as mourners scaled the perimeter wall hoping to view Raila Odinga’s body.
In the middle of the commotion, Babu Owino climbed the same wall to address the thousands who had arrived as early as 4:00 am. Since Raila’s death, Babu’s political presence has grown more visible.
In Bondo, during Raila’s burial, his recognition among Members of Parliament drew loud cheers from the crowd, showing his increasing popularity among supporters of the late ODM leader.
His strong voice in youth politics and unwavering loyalty to Raila have made him a familiar figure in gatherings connected to the national mourning. For now, the youthful legislator has chosen a moment of peace in Got Matar to reflect on his journey and the future.
