Four suspects including an Administration Police (AP) officer were on Saturday afternoon (February 29) shot dead at Santack Estate on Ngong Road, where they had detained a Chinese national they had earlier kidnapped.
The four kidnappers had on Thursday evening (February 27) stormed Chinese Centre posing as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.
The kidnappers drove in in a black Toyota Prado of registration plate KCT 118C at around 5pm, and entered the shop owned by Gao Yuan Hong, where they arrested him and drove away with him.
Later at night, they called their victim’s brother, demanding a ransom of USD1million (Ksh100 million).
The matter was reported to the police by the Chairperson of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, William Zituo, and detectives launched investigations.
On Friday, February 28, the gang was in Kiambu but later disappeared off the detectives’ radar.
On Saturday at around 1pm, detectives from the Special Service Unit, DCI Kilimani and Criminal Intelligence Bureau tracked the gang to Santack Estate, House Number 2199, where the Chinese was also held.
