Another autopsy ordered as body of Kahawa Wendani MCA arrives

Another postmortem will be conducted on the body of the late Kahawa Wendani MCA, Cyrus Omondi to unravel the mystery that continues to surround his death, Kiambu Governor Dr. James Nyoro has said.

The first postmortem was conducted in India where the vibrant MCA met his death while on an official tour last week.

According to Nyoro, Indian government has already collected samples and a report on what may have caused his death will be out soon.

Speaking at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where he joined the late MCA’s family and friends in receiving his Omondi’s body, Nyoro said that in the long run, the government will ascertain the cause of death.

Burial plans have already been initiated with a committee comprising family members, Kiambu County government officers and national government representatives already having been set.

Dr. Nyoro urged the public to avoid speculating on the cause of death, saying the matter will be made clear after the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) carries out an investigation.

“Let us stop speculation. The government of Kenya is capable and able to do investigations here in Nairobi and in Mumbai. I plead with you to stop guesswork because Omondi was a friend to many including myself and ultimately, his cause of death will be determined,” he said.

It’s six days since the MCA died under unclear circumstances. Earlier reports indicated that the MCA died from a heart attack, an announcement that has since been criticized.

Present during the return of Omondi’s body were Kiambu Governor James Nyoro, his predecessor William Kabogo and Ruiru MP Simon Kinga’ara.

Meanwhile, a sombre mood filled the air at Lee Funeral Home where the MCA’s body was preserved upon arrival from India.

Public viewing at the facility was temporarily stopped after a group demanding to be told the cause of death caused disruptions.

The late MCA who had travelled for official duties in the company of County Executive Member for Education Joseph Kang’ethe, Chief Officer in charge of education Isaac Muiru and Susan Wanjiku, a nominated MCA for an education workshop was found dead in his hotel room in Mumbai, India.
