Amisi cautions Ichung’wah against dragging Gachagua’s wife in political squabbles

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has come out strongly to denounce recent remarks made by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah targeting Dorcas Gachagua, the spouse of the former Deputy President.

In a statement posted on his official X account on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Amisi expressed disappointment over Ichung’wah’s approach, terming it a deviation from the principles that guide political engagement.

He emphasised the importance of maintaining boundaries in political discourse, particularly in regard to family members of political opponents.

While acknowledging his own political differences with the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Amisi maintained that personal disagreements should never spill over into attacks on family members.

@KIMANIICHUNGWAH, you are not the first person to disagree with a leader politically or even personally. That is our occupational hazard. I also don’t like #Gachagua‘s ways of politicking. But the cardinal rule is to keep off family. Abusing someone’s wife in public does not make you a better leader or a hero.” Amisi stated.

Kuria’s take on the same

This comes after former Senior Advisor in the Council of Economic Advisors, Moses Kuria, who also appealed to leaders to keep families out of their political rhetoric and feuds.

In a statement on Monday, July 21, 2025, Kuria slammed various leaders for dragging family members into political feuds, insisting that it was out of order.

Specifically, Moses Kuria called out Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

He asked the duo not to drag family members into their political squabbles.

He equally slammed Ichung’wah following his recent derogatory comments aimed at Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.

“When Rigathi Gachagua said that President Ruto asked him not to tag along his spouse to the National Prayer Breakfast because Mama Rachael was not there, I called him out on national TV for pettiness. In the same vein, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah is grossly out of order for dragging Pastor Dorcas Rigathi into the mud only because of her husband,” Kuria stated.

“Since the next phase of this war will be vicious and bloody, let us have our version of the Geneva Convention. KEEP FAMILIES OUT OF POLITICS,” he made it clear.
