Eight suspected robbers were on Sunday night shot dead on Lunga Lunga Road in Industrial Area, Nairobi as police responded to a burglary report in a warehouse.

Officers from the Makadara Sub County Industrial Area Police Station said that they were responding to burglary and stealing report from the chief controller.

Police said that on arrival at the Sihra Coffee Machinery Service and Gensham Wood Enterprises warehouses, they found 12 men loading goods into a white truck.

The group, police said, were armed with machetes and pistols and when they were commanded to surrender, they fired at the police.

At the scene, police said that they recovered two home-made pistols, five machetes, and a revolver whose serial number was defaced.

Two gas cylinders weighing 50kg were also seized at the scene of the crime.

Police cautioned members of the public that the four suspects who escaped are armed and dangerous.
