7 counties to partially experience blackouts on Monday
By Francis Muli, June 9, 2024At least seven counties will experience blackouts on Monday, June 10, 2024, the Kenya Power and Lighting Company has announced.
In a statement on Sunday night, the utility firm said the outage was a result of routine network maintenance.
“The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (10th June 2024). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” Kenya Power announced.
Among the counties scheduled for blackouts include Nairobi, Bomet, Kisii, Homa Bay, Nyeri, Murang’a and Kiambu.
In Nairobi, the outage will affect Hansard Heights, Laxminarayan Ants, Part of Kodi Road, T-Mall, School for the Blind, Wilson Airport, AMREF Wilson, Sunshine School, Weston Hotel, Langata Primary School, Nairobi West Prison, Amref University, Dam Estate, Uhuru Gardens, Jonathan Ngeno Estate, Breeze Estate and adjacent customers.
In Bomet, Koiwa Market, Kobel T/Fact, Kaptebengwet, Rorok T/Fact, Kitala, Siomo T/Fact, Koiwa Health Centre, Chaptalal Dispensary, Kiptenden, Sotit, Berekwek, Meswondo, Tuiyobei, Besiobei, Bosto and adjacent customers will be affected.
In Kisii, the blackout will be experienced in Kegati Market, Kiogoro, Rianyamwamu, Nyanguru, Itumbe, Nyaguta, Riabamanyi, Kegati Fisheries, Karmel Park and adjacent customers.
In Homa Bay, the areas to be affected include Kawonda Market, Singenge, Kayanga, Andiwo and adjacent customers.
In Nyeri, the outage will affect St Jude, Swahili Village, Oilcom, lbauini, Kagayu, Thunguma, County Assembly of Nyeri Offices, Beatrice Court, PG Murrithi, Ruringu, Beavers and adjacent customers.
In Murang’a, the areas which will experience blackouts include Branan Estate, Bedor Estate, Githumbuini Estate, Golden Pearl Estate, Kahaini Market, OLA, Enkasiti Flower Farm, Kwa Nyoka Estate, Simbi Roses, Koorali Estate, Kahoya Estate Houses, Silver Oak, Gatoka Estate, Ngararia Girls & Ngararia Market, Kiunyu, Kiama Estate, Gatoka, Gatunyu, Kimatus, Mabanda, Ithangariri, Gatanga, Kirwara, Kihumbuini and adjacent customers.
In Kiambu, Mama Ngina University, Mutomo Market, lchaweri Market, Kiamwangi Market, Gatitu School, Gitare Dispensary, Gitare Market, Mundoro Market, Theta T/Fact, Gathiru School & Village, Kiganjo Market, Kiganjo C/Fact, Githembe C/Fact, Fla Ndege Market, Wangui Market, Gachika Market and adjacent customers.
Other areas to be affected include Fresha Dairies, Githunguri Town, Githunguri Law Courts, Beta Care, Thakwa Village, Kamburu, Matimbei, Kagaa, Kagwe Shops, Gatamaiyu, Gachoire, Nyanduma, Kamuchege, Pascha Dairies, Nyamuthanga, Gitwe Girls, Kambaa Fact, Matuguta, Mungu, Miumia and adjacent customers.
