61-year-old woman, two dogs electrocuted in Mt Elgon

Residents of Tuikut village, Sasur location, Mt. Elgon constituency in Bungoma county woke up to shocking news after a 61-year-old woman was electrocuted.

Confirming the incident that happened on Tuesday morning, the area Chief Jackson Komon said Emily Psongoywo was electrocuted on a neighbour’s fence while deliver milk to a nearby church.

Komon confirmed that two dogs were also electrocuted in the incident.

“At around 7:00am, I received a call from one of my village elders that an old woman had been electrocuted. I rushed to the scene and found her lying lifeless,” Komon said.

The administrator revealed that the electric wire was illegally connected by Cleophas Nyoga, the suspect.

Nyoga is said to have disappeared from the area after realizing that his illegal power connection had led to the death of an innocent woman.

“We have launched a manhunt operation in the area. I want to assure the locals that the suspect will be arrested and charged in a court of law,” he added.
