A six-storey building has sunk in Tassia Estate in Embakasi East, Nairobi.

The building, which has 46 units, came tumbling down at 8am Friday, with tens of occupants feared trapped in the rubble.

Nairobi Regional Police Commander, Philip Ndolo, confirmed the incident to K24 Digital, saying rescue operation is underway.

At noon, Public Works Principal Secretary, Gordon Kihalangwa, said six occupants had been rescued from the sunk structure.

The cause of the sinking of the building remains unclear, though it is suspected soggy soil due to the heavy rains could have contributed to the accident.

More soon.
