6 die on the spot after road accident along Nairobi-Nakuru Highway
By Cynthia Lodite, October 25, 2025At least six people have been killed following a grisly accident that involved a private car in the Soy Sambu area of Gilgil along the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway.
In a report by the Gilgil Sub-County Police Commander Winsron Mwakio, the victims were travelling in a saloon car when it collided with an oncoming truck in the morning hours of Saturday, October 25, 2025.
“Nissan ilikua inatoka upande wa Nakuru ikielekea Nairobi, while the bus ilikua inateremka kuelekea Nakuru. Unfortunately, occupants wa gari ndo la Nissan were fatally injured; wote walifariki,” Mwakio said.

The wreckage of both vehicles was towed to Gilgil Police Station, while the bodies were moved to Gilgil Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, awaiting identification by family members.
Nairobi accident
The accident comes days after Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) reported receiving at least 24 individuals, 11 women and 13 men, who were injured in a road accident that occurred on Monday, October 13, 2025, night in Nairobi.

This follows a mass casualty accident that involved a Citi Hoppa bus that occurred along Kenyatta Avenue near the Serena Hotel on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at approximately 12:30 am.
“Kenyatta National Hospital received a total of 24 casualties — 11 females and 13 males — following a mass casualty incident that occurred along Kenyatta Avenue near Serena Hotel on 14th October 2025 at approximately 12:30 a.m. The incident involved a CityHoppa bus,” KNH said in an X post on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
“Upon notification, the KNH Emergency Response Team was immediately activated and worked swiftly to ensure that all the affected individuals received timely and appropriate medical attention.”
At the time, KNH assured it would continue to monitor the condition of the patients closely and remain committed to providing the highest standards of emergency care to all who need it.
Earlier on, Nairobi City County Chief Officer for Environment Geoffrey Mosiria confirmed the accident, saying some victims were trapped under the bus.
Then, he appealed for ambulances to help evacuate the victims.
“I have mobilised all available county ambulances, but they are not enough. If you have an ambulance, please come and assist us immediately,” he said then.
