At least 70 people in Nairobi were taken to mandatory quarantine after they were found flouting government directives on containment of Covid-19 pandemic.
In Kayole, Nairobi, 31 people were arrested after they were found congregating in drinking dens.
After their brief detention at Ruari and Kayole police stations, they were taken to be quarantined at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) on Sunday night, April 19.
In the same division, 39 women were seized at Nasra Estate which is behind Mama Lucy Hospital where they were attending a wedding.
Police officers were alerted about the wedding by members of the public.
Following their arrest, they were taken for quarantine at the KMTC, Nairobi, where they will stay for 14 days.
The women told police that they were few but the number swelled up after several youth joined them for the wedding.
The women came from Eastleigh, Nairobi.
Kayole OCPD, Wilson Kosgey, said the only option they have for those flouting government directives is to quarantine them at their own cost.
