Two suspected robbers were on Friday night (November 22) shot dead on suspicion that they were planning to engage in burglary in a house in Ruaka, Kiambaa Sub-County in Kiambu.
“Kiambaa [police] officers, following a tip off, learnt that there was robbery with violence incident that was to take place at Ruaka Court Yard Complex Building in a house occupied by two Nigerian citizens,” police said in a report filed at the Karuri Police Station on Friday night.
“The cops from Kiambaa intercepted the robbers just within the compound of the said-complex as they were taking position. Upon being challenged to surrender, the suspected criminals began shooting at the policemen. [Consequently], a shoot-out ensued, and two robbers were fatally injured, whereas two others managed to escape with gunshot wounds,” says the report filed at 7:45pm.
The law enforcement agents say they recovered an identity card, an NHIF card, a taxi driver’s identity document all belonging to Galgalo Hussein Wako. Also recovered, was a work identity document belonging to administration police constable Daniel E. Etiang of service number 236975.
A Jericho pistol, ten rounds of 9mm ammunition and a motor vehicle of registration plate KCU 926L were also seized in the operation.
Bodies of the suspected robbers were taken to Kihara Level 4 Hospital morgue in Gachie.
