Friday power blackout set to affect 2 counties

Two counties are set to be affected by a planned power outage scheduled for Friday, July 12, 2024, as per the latest announcement from Kenya Power.

According to the statement from Kenya Power, the interruption, intended for network maintenance, will disrupt multiple regions in the affected counties, and the temporary power cuts will be experienced concurrently throughout the day.

“Interruption of Electricity supply, notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules. That the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically in order to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during road construction,” Kenya Power stated.

Although temporary, the power blackout is expected to significantly impact various sectors and activities in the affected counties.

Here are the counties set to be affected by the power blackout on Friday as announced by Kenya Power.

Nairobi County

Area: Evergreen

Time: 9.00 am – 5.00 pm

Places that will be affected: Baobab Street, Wood Vale Drive, Runda Meadows, Duom Palm Street, Garden Drive, Mugumo Drive, Daisy Drive, Flame Tree Rd, Part of Ruaka Rd, Acacia Drive, Bombax Cl and adjacent customers.

NAKURU COUNTY

Area: Elementaita, Mau Narok

Time:9.00 Α.Μ. – 5.00 Ρ.Μ

Places set to be affected: Elementaita, Mau Narok, Mwisho wa Lami, Kiptangwanyi, Kongasis, Oljorai, Jogoo, Likia, Fontana, Charvi, Mauche, Dibai, Kianjoya, Kalukiat, Sururu and adjacent customers.
