Police in Mwea West Sub county in Kirinyaga are holding two people suspected of murdering their lovers over allegations of infidelity.

Confirming the two incidents, Mwea West Sub county police commander Stephen Okal said that the first incident happened in Ciagiini village where Jacklyn Wawira, 19, stabbed to death her 25 year old boyfriend, Eric Gitonga.

The young lady, who is said to be a form two drop out, carried out the act in her grandmother’s compound where she has been staying.

The lady and her boyfriend, a petrol station attendant, had a heated argument on infidelity that translated into the fatality.

The argument later transitioned into a fight where the lady is said to have grabbed a sharp kitchen knife and stabbed the young man to death.

“We have managed to recover the murder weapon and the lady is being held at Kiamaciri police station,” Okal said adding that further investigations are on going in a bid to unearth further details on the incident.

Elsewhere in Kariko-ini village of Kangai ward, Mwea West, a man aged around 30 years has been arrested after he allegedly murdered his 28 year old wife.

The Mwea West Sub county police boss Stephen Okal said that the two had the same problem of infidelity suspicion.

According to a source who spoke to K24 Digital on Condition of anonymity, Antony Murage suspected that his wife, Esther Wanjiku had been cheating in him.

“The man has been accusing the wife of cheating. During a verbal exchange over the issue, the man became aggressive, took a kitchen knife and stabbed the lady several times,” the source said.

Confirming the incident, the police boss said that the suspect is being held at Kiamaciri police station.

“We are holding the suspect at Kiamaciri police station, and as soon as the investigation is over, we will give more details,” Stephen Okal said.

Suspected love triangles in Mwea Constituency have been on the rise in the recent past, and have resulted to victims suffering from severe injuries as well as resulting to the death of some victims.

n early January, two police officers died, after a prison warden in Gathigiriri prison opened fire and shot another officer who at the time was stationed in Kianyaga police station, over a suspected love triangle.
