13 more die of COVID-19 in Kenya

Kenya recorded 13 new COVID-19 related deaths on Friday, September 25, pushing the country’s death toll to 682, the Ministry of Health announced.

On a positive note, the country’s total number of recoveries reached 24,504 after 170 patients were declared healed in the last 24 hours.

Ninety-one (91) of the 170 new recoveries were registered in hospitals, whereas 79 patients were under home-based care.

The country recorded 218 new COVID-19 cases in 5,424 samples, pushing the national caseload to 37,707.

Two hundred and ten (210) of the new cases were discovered among Kenyan nationals, whereas eight were foreigners.

One hundred and fifty nine (159) of the new cases were registered among male carriers, whereas 59 were female.

The youngest of the 218 new patients is aged one year old, whereas the oldest is aged 78 years old.

Nairobi produced 68 of the new infections, followed by Kisii (28), Mombasa (21), Kisumu (19), Kiambu (13), Kajiado (11), Busia (10), Machakos (8), Tharaka-Nithi (6), Garissa (6), Taita-Taveta (5), Nakuru (4), Uasin-Gishu (3), Narok (2), Laikipia (2), Kakamega (2) and Kericho (2).

Homa-Bay, Murang’a, Bomet, Kilifi, Makueni, Migori, Nyandarua and Nyeri posted a COVID-19 case each.

In Nairobi, the new cases were discovered in the following estates: Starehe and Westlands (7 cases each), Lang’ata (6), Embakasi West (5), Dagoretti North, Embakasi Central, Embakasi East, Embakasi South, Kibra, Makadara and Roysambu (4 cases each), Dagoretti South, Kasarani and Ruaraka (3 cases each), Embakasi North, Kamukunji, and Mathare (2 cases each).

In Mombasa, Jomvu produced 15 cases of the 21 infections, followed by Kisauni (3), Mvita (2) and Nyali (1).
