Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has praised his lawyers led by Thomas Rutto and former presidential aspirant George Wajackoyah after a Nairobi court acquitted him in an academic papers forgery case.

Taking to his official account on Friday, June 7, 2024, Sudi shared a video of the said lawyers briefing the media after the court session.

In the video shared by Sudi, the lawyers praised the case and defended him to the media, arguing that he possesses genuine academic papers.

“My lawyers led by Thomas Rutto and George Wajackoya addressing presser after today’s court session,” Sudi captioned the video.

In the video, Rutto thanked the court for considering the evidence that was produced, and its subsequent analysis, insisting that their client, Sudi, doesn’t possess fake academic papers.

Rutto maintained that the case was just based on mere allegations.

“Our client does not have fake papers…he is qualified. These were just mere allegations,” Rutto, one of Sudi’s lead lawyers said.

Wajackoyah while thanking the court argued that the case was based on rumor mongering.

“I don’t have much to say, a lot has been said today. One of the things I have noticed in this country since I came back is that a lot of people are too much into rumor mongering…they produce something very small and put somebody’s name into mud. Today the courts have proven and this is the first time I have been involved in litigation right from the beginning to the end,” Wajackoyah said.

Sudi was on Friday, June 7, 2024, acquitted of all charges in a case in which he was accused of forging his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate.

The MP was also charged with making a false declaration to officials of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) during the 2013 General Election.

The anti-corruption court argued that the prosecution had failed to prove its case, adding that the evidence had been obtained illegally, as no formal documents to back up the allegations were produced.

Chief magistrate Felix Kombo faulted the investigating officer for how he obtained part of the evidence.

Sudi was also facing accusations of forging a diploma certificate in Business Management purporting it to be a genuine document issued by the Kenya Institute of Management.

The controversial lawmaker is said to have provided false information to Derrick Kaisha, an officer of EACC, at Haron Court Hotel, Nairobi County, in September 2015.
