The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced that it will air the memorial service of media personality and reggae sensation Njambi Koikai.

The service will be broadcast live on Azimio TV to honour her contribution and admiration for the party’s ideologies.

In a statement, ODM shared that Koikai was an enthusiastic supporter of the party since its inception.

“When the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) was formed, one of the admirers of its ideology was media personality and entertainer @JahmbyKoikai. She immediately became a member,” the statement read.

Reggae community pays tribute

The Kenya Reggae Community held a remarkable tribute night in memory of the late Njambi Koikai, at Quiver Lounge on Thika Road.

This special event took place on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, and was attended by an array of Kenyan celebrities, influencers, and politicians.

Notable attendees included comedy star Churchill, popular radio host Maina Kageni, and a number of actors and actresses. A highlight of the evening was a captivating performance by H_art the Band.

Njambi’s send-off contributions

On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, comedian Njugush expressed his gratitude to Kenyans for their tremendous support during a live video on his Instagram page.

Njugush disclosed that Ksh2.5 million had already been raised out of the targeted Ksh5 million. The funds will be used to cover burial expenses and settle the significant hospital bills left by the late Endo Warrior.

He urged people to keep contributing to Jahmby’s send-off to help prevent her grieving family from being burdened with debts.

Njambi’s journey with endometriosis

Throughout her battle with endometriosis, Jahmby consistently shared updates with her fans via social media, documenting every step of her recovery.

She was also Kenya’s endometriosis ambassador.

One particular image depicted the reggae DJ’s upper body wrapped in heavy bandages, with numerous tubes attached to the right side of her chest. Her surgeries were performed at specialized hospitals in the United States.

Endometriosis, a gynaecological condition, occurs when tissue resembling the lining of the uterus grows in other parts of the body such as the fallopian tubes, pelvis, bowel, vagina, and intestines. This condition is closely linked to menstruation.

Koikai passed away at Nairobi Hospital, where she was receiving treatment in the ICU. Her death came days after she publicly appealed for blood donations through her Instagram stories.

She passed away at the age of 38.
