Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) CEO Ezekiel Mutua cautions the anti-Finance Bill 2024 protesters against violence amid demonstrations.

In a statement, on Thursday, June 27, 2024, Mutua urged protesters to abide by the rule of law when exercising their democratic rights adding that when acting within the law, beyond tribe and beyond being bought the voices of demonstrators become more powerful.

Mutua further stated that the power of the young generation lies in legitimate agitation, peaceful protest and respect for the Constitution.

“To Gen Z, your power lies in legitimate agitation, nonviolent protestations and respect for the rule of law. Do not throw away your legitimacy and credibility by being unruly or acting against the very constitution that you are riding on, “Mutua said.

“You are powerful when you act in line with the law when you are beyond tribe and beyond being bought. You are powerful when you prick our conscience with your sheer courage, boldness and intelligence.”

MSCK CEO stated that acting unruly, causing mayhem and violence during demonstrations will only rob their powers since it’s a sign of weakness.

“Bullying others, causing mayhem and violence is not a strength. It robs you of your power,” Mutua said.
